Animals at risk of extinction in Central America
squirrel monkey
This little monkey is considered the smallest of the primates. No one can help but breathe an affectionate sigh upon seeing him.
However, in a short time we may no longer be able to see him in Central America. Unfortunately, the destruction of its habitat is preventing it from being able to feed and survive.
Its body measures about 75 centimeters, but of these, forty correspond to the tail. The length and flexibility of its tail allows it to move freely between trees and jump from one to the other without any problem.
Its color is ocher and reddish with a characteristic black spot on the head.
Anteater
This curious animal, with a snout in the shape of a tube, is one of the most present in Central America. Unfortunately, it looks like this will change soon. Its food is based on ants it encounters by destroying their nests with its claws.
The destruction of the forests and habitats in which it lives makes its domains become smaller and smaller, which will eventually lead to its disappearance.
Armadillo
This animal, which many of us know from cartoons, is present in every country in Central America. However, because of the deforestation that is taking place in them, it seems that very soon we will stop seeing it.
This is an animal with a carapace made up of juxtaposed plates that make it much easier to recognize at first sight. Although there are several species that inhabit many of the countries of Latin America, there is a decreasing number of them.

This animal, one of the most ferocious reptiles that exists, is present in many Latin countries. While it may not be to the liking of many, it has its role in nature and is necessary for balance in the pyramid of life.
Their natural habitat spaces are getting smaller. There are fewer animals that they can feed on, as many are disappearing, which will cause them to disappear at some point.
Quetzal
Quetzals are beautiful birds that live mainly in Latin America. Their colors always attract and fascinate those who can see them.
That’s why, in many of these countries, there are specific tours to see them, although you’re not always lucky. These days, it ‘s getting harder and harder to find them.
Climate change and deforestation are causing great losses among these birds of paradise characterized by their long tail, sympathetic crest and bright colors. It would be a shame if a work of art like this ceased to exist.
