The Intelligence Of Farm Animals

The intelligence of farm animals

If you’re from the city and not the countryside, you probably haven’t noticed the intelligence of farm animals, which have nothing to envy a cat or a dog.

Farm animal intelligence data

We will tell you some details about the amazing intelligence of these beings, who often suffer abuse and who live in overcrowding in breeding sites and other food production establishments. It is that, in most cases, they are part of our everyday diet.

pigs

Pigs seem to equal the level of intelligence with elephants and dolphins. These animals learn faster than dogs and monkeys.

Professor Donald Broom – from the University of Cambridge – assures that their cognitive abilities are superior to that of a three-year-old child.

Among the data that confirm its intelligence, we can highlight:

  • They have an excellent long-term memory;
  • They have a vocabulary of over 20 different sounds;
  • They communicate among themselves and name each other;
  • In most cases, they respond when a human calls them by name;
  • They can open and close doors, play herds and even learn different games.

cows

Like pigs, cows also recognize each other and even develop deep family and friendship ties.

Like intelligent chimpanzees, they have collaborative relationships, like “cleaning associations.”

Professor Broom pointed out that when they solve the intellectual challenges that are presented to them, their brain waves reflect enthusiasm and their heart rate increases. When they solve a problem, they celebrate by moving their tails and running happily.

Memory also seems to be the strength of these cattle. As Professor Joe Stookey of the University of Saskatchewan explains, they have good spatial memory; in other words, remember where things are.

chickens

Dr. Lesley Rogers of the University of New England says that it has finally been proven that the cognitive abilities of birds are similar to those of mammals, including primates.

Chickens, for example, like humans and apes, can anticipate the future and demonstrate complete self-mastery.

These birds communicate with each other with more than 30 distinct voices. For example, they warn the rest of the group about where there is food or warn about different predators. This communication starts before they are born, as they “speak” with their mother still inside the egg.

Furthermore:

  • They find their way out if placed in a maze;
  • They live in organized communities;
  • They learn from each other.

sheep

Sheep have the ability to experience emotions using the same mechanisms as humans. It has been proven that they can feel:

  • Fear;
  • Will;
  • Anger;
  • Despair;
  • Annoyance;
  • Ascus;
  • Happiness.

Other scientific researches have shown that sheep have neuronal mechanisms identical to those of humans for visual recognition. This allows them to memorize faces of up to 50 people and 50 sheep for over two years.

In addition, they are able to learn to solve puzzles, remember what they have learned and adapt to new circumstances faster than monkeys.

Also the goats…

Professor Jenny Morton, from Cambridge University, assures that both goats and sheep:

  • They move their tails in friendship;
  • They recognize their names;
  • They form strong bonds with people and the like.

Let’s respect animal rights!

chickens

Every day, we are surprised by information that further confirms the animals’ intelligence and sensitivity.

Possibly, one day, man will also start to respect the rights of animals and avoid the mistreatment of all kinds , which are used to subjecting animals. Between them:

  • Exploration in breeding sites;
  • Indiscriminate hunting;
  • Abandonment;
  • Destruction of natural habitats;
  • Use in legal and illegal shows;
  • Traffic in exotic species;
  • Locks in zoos.

Our supposed superiority should not cloud our hearts. Respect the animals, please!
