The most popular furry dog breeds

Not everything is a problem when you have a pet with a lot of fur. They will make you want to hug him more, you will be protected from the cold in winter and will be your pride when you take him to the park. Now get to know some of the furry dog breeds you can take home:

1. Silky Terrier

This dog comes from Australia and looks a lot like the Yorkshire Terrier  (they are cousins). Looks like a stuffed animal! It measures no more than 25 centimeters and its vitality is one of its main characteristics (alongside its silky fur, of course). This dog’s fur is very fine, and it is necessary to brush it daily to avoid knots.

2. Afghan Hound

It is one of the most elegant furry dog breeds in the world. Also known as “Afghan lebrel”, one of its most impressive aspects, without a doubt, is its hair: silky, delicate and fine. It can have several colors (gold, brown, gray) and is one of the most awarded in beauty contests. The Afghan Hound is a dog somewhat suspicious of strangers, somewhat dependent on owners and excellent for hunting and surveillance.

3. Toy Poodle

This breed is not only known for its small size (maximum of 28 cm at the withers), but also because it  has abundant, wool-like (curled) hair. Although it looks soft and calm, the toy poodle can be a little nervous and bark a lot. It is very important to maintain a hygiene routine and brush his coat so that it looks nice and not tangled.

4. Komondor

This dog is native to Hungary and one of many European breeds used for herding cattle. With a funny looking brush and large size (can measure up to 90 cm and weigh 80 kg), it has a very strange fur, similar to “dreadlocks”, white, very thick and long.

5. Lulu of Pomeranian Toy

It is a very small dog that attracts attention because it looks like a cotton ball. It’s one of the loveliest furry dog breeds out there. It needs a lot of care, despite its small size. As for the maintenance of the hair, it is recommended to cut it as many times as possible and condition it so that it does not curl or stop being so “fluffy”.

6. Samoyed

This excellent dog of Russian origin looks like a giant stuffed animal. With a small face and short ears, the Samoyed weighs about 30 kg when it becomes an adult. He is adored by everyone because of his tenderness. Originally, it was used to pull sleds in cities in the north of the country and also to keep the temperature of its owners at night. It is also one of the oldest dog breeds in the world.

7. Portuguese water dog

It’s amazing how this dog looks. Its fur looks like wool and its tail ends up in a “ball”, like a poodle, but bigger. Both races are believed to be related. His huge mane is ideal for thousands of hugs.

8. Tibetan Mastiff

It is also  called the Tibetan Mastiff and is a sizable, hairy breed. It has been used as a war dog and to protect prisoners for over four thousand years. Currently, it is known for its abundant coat, which can be black, gray, golden or blue, and its size is large.

9. Bernese cattle breeder

It’s voluminous but not “fancy” and has a good amount of hair to amuse us while brushing. Originally from Switzerland, their coat is usually black, with some “details” in white and brown.

10. Bobtail

This ancient English dog is another breed of furry dogs that makes us want to hug and care for him. Despite its large size, it has a very docile and tolerant temperament. It is ideal for socializing with children. Its coat is mainly white with some gray parts. And he has a beautiful face!
