While it is true that many stores or shopping centers allow the entry of pets, there are still some small businesses that reserve the right to ban pets. In any case, we must assess whether our partner is domesticated to stay within the requirements.

Pets have been a part of our lives since time immemorial, and although there has always been a separation between animals and humans, little by little our dear friends are taking up more and more space in many areas of our lives. For example,  did you know that you can go shopping with your pet?

It ‘s been a long time since  the signs in stores saying that no animals are allowed have been left behind. It is true that there are certain stores, such as food stores, where, for reasons of hygiene, we understand that animals cannot enter, but there were many others where we did not understand why.

This has changed thanks to many non-profit associations that have struggled for years to preserve animal rights. Thanks to them and the little that many of us could do to contribute, you can now shop with your pet.

Stores and malls now allow pets to enter clothing stores, perfume stores, jewelry stores, shoe stores and many others. This is why it  is increasingly common to see people with their dogs in large shopping centers, even when they are closed.

Those who don’t like animals have  opened a debate in which they claim that it doesn’t make sense for a dog to go shopping. Of course, animal lovers have their arguments against them.

Of course animals don’t buy anything, but  they are part of the family, so we don’t want them to be alone or feel anxious at home  , so we integrate them into society and the real world, a world of which they are also a part.

Although there are stores in shopping centers that have decided that pets can enter, there are still small street stores  that, according to their criteria, establish whether or not the pet can enter.

Tips for shopping with your pet

Obviously, the fact that our pet is allowed to enter  stores  does not authorize us to enter it without the necessary precautions or without taking into account several aspects such as these:

• The size of the dog. If your dog is very big and the store you want to enter is small or with narrow aisles, don’t you think you could get in trouble? Here, common sense wins, and we don’t want to spoil with our attitudes what others struggled so hard to achieve. Please be cautious.
• Always carry your dog on a leash. No matter how good your pet is, it can   inadvertently upset other people or drop something. To avoid these situations, always carry your pet on a leash and keep it as close to you as possible. If it’s too small, you can put it in your bag, for example.
• Your personality. Another thing to keep in mind is your dog’s personality. We all believe that our pet is the best, but we must be sincere and consistent. Does your dog try to bite others at the first opportunity? Does he  move a lot  and hit everything? Is he the one who pulls the collar and doesn’t obey you? So you better not go shopping with your pet.

• Accept a “no”. The fact that many stores accept pets in doesn’t mean they all have to do the same. If you go to a store and ask if you can come in with a dog, cat, or any other animal, and they say no, just smile, thank them politely, and leave  without further ado. You won’t gain anything by arguing, and besides, you won’t be right.

Now you can shop with your pet, as you can go to the terrace of a restaurant, a hotel or a hairdresser, but remember that the owners of the establishments are the ones who decide this, and our good attitude can motivate those that do not allow, yet, to change their minds. Nothing is gained by force or violence.
