A Filipino Boy Fulfills His Dream And Creates An Animal Shelter
There are stray dogs everywhere, but since I live in a developing country, I realized how many stray dogs there are. Sometimes it’s hard to get food even for people to eat, due to the shortage of work, so animals become the last priority, I would say until they drop off the priority list.
However, there are still people with a heart bigger than themselves and who are willing to give everything to help these animals. This is the case with Ken, a 9-year-old boy who lives in the Philippines, a developing country, where he created an animal shelter. Would you like to know your story?

Ever since he was little, every day when he went to school, Ken came across dogs that lived on the street. He felt sad for them, wanted to give affection, but his mother did not let him fear that he might contract some disease. But like the kids, Ken grew up and soon started going to school alone.

When this happened, his mother no longer denied him a caress of the helpless dogs that lived in the streets of his city. So, one day, going to school, when he met these stray dogs, he called them.
They started grunting, barking, “they were scared and afraid of people ,” Ken said. His daily attempts to pet these dogs would not have the desired effect for Ken, so he decided to move on to plan B.

Ken thought about how he could attract these animals to him. He thought about what they might want. Food! How did you not think of this before? He plucked up courage and decided to talk to his mother about it. She allowed Ken to feed these animals, as it seemed a noble and generous gesture, which made her feel proud of her son.
Ken and his family didn’t have a lot of resources, but his mother kept the leftovers from his food for Ken to take the next day on his way to school and give them to those he wanted to be his new friends, the dogs.
From time to time, they could even afford to buy a few cans of prepared dog food, even if it was of poor quality. “It wasn’t much, but it was more than they had,” explains Ken.
Ken’s father became curious about his son’s obsession with helping helpless animals and began to accompany Ken to school to meet his new friends. Ken had managed to gain his trust, and as soon as they heard him or smelled him, the pets rushed to his presence.

Ken’s father saw this act as something so tender that he decided he must do something to help his son. He was touched by seeing his son in action and couldn’t help taking some pictures of such a supportive moment.
It saddened him to see the state the animals were in and to be unable to do more for them. Ken began to feed in his mind the desire to have a place where he could care for and protect these dogs. He told his dad that when he grew up, he would create an animal shelter.
Ken’s wish came true
After talking and thinking a lot, Ken’s parents decided to make Ken’s photos public on the internet and tell his story and his wishes. Soon they began to receive messages from some people willing to donate resources to take care of these animals.
“We soon had enough resources to give them high quality food and veterinary care. Also, my dad and I built a small animal shelter in our garage ,” Ken told us.

The dogs recovered quickly, their wounds were healed, they gained weight and their fur became more beautiful. Ken thinks he will soon be able to put them up for adoption. Thanks to the “Happy Animals Club” network, Ken continues to save the stray dogs and give them the necessary care in his animal shelter.
Isn’t that a beautiful story? After knowing what a 9 year old boy was able to do, we cannot refuse to take care of a stray animal, there are no excuses. Let us learn from this kind boy and let us do everything in our hands to make this world a better place.
